On the evening of October 11th, 2016, President JIN Donghan of Shanghai University heard the work report of development and research of Asian Population Research Center in the past year delivered by each responsible person of various research directions of Asian Population Research Center (the "Center") in School of Social Sciences at Floor 7 of the Administrative Building in Shanghai University. JIANG Leiwen, Director of the Center, ZHANG Wenhong, President of School of Social Sciences, LIU Yuzhao, Vice President of School of Social Sciences and three responsible persons respectively in the direction of population forecasting and human capital, international population migration and domestic population migration all delivered their work reports. Postdoctoral CHEN Chen served as a translator in the work report.
Professor JIANG Leiwen first reported the development and international cooperation of the Center in the past year with focus on related work on how the Center accelerated collaboration on demographic researches in Asia and improved internationalization of domestic demographic researches relying on the Asian MetaCentre for Population and Sustainable Development Analysis. Later, Professor JIANG Leiwen, Professor Samir KC, Professor Guy Abel and Professor ZHU Yu respectively delivered a topic report on their own research direction, specifically, population and environment and urbanization, population forecasting and human capital, international population migration and domestic population migration. During the work report, President JIN raised questions about research methods and assumptions from time to time and discussed lively with the reporting experts. In the end, Vice President LIU Yuzhao introduced the cooperation between the Asian Population Research Center and Shanghai Municipality as well as the Center’s main service work in the development of Shanghai. President JIN expressed great interest in the studies on relevant professional fields of the Center and noted that he would offer strong support to the construction and development of the Center.
