On April 14, 2022, Elsevier officially released the 2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers ranking. China's highly cited scholars in 2021 come from 523 universities, enterprises and research institutions. Among the universities, 319 scholars from universities were selected, among which Professor Guy Abel from ADRI, Shanghai University was selected as one of the 12 most cited scholars in sociology.
The 2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers ranking covers 84 first-level disciplines in 10 disciplines of the Ministry of Education. The basic data extraction of highly cited scholars this time is based on the further optimized and updated Elsevier first-level discipline classification mapping of the Ministry of Education (111 disciplines have been covered). Highly cited scholars in China select academic talents from the perspective of pure paper influence, with objective and unified standards, which is conducive to multiple perspectives on talent and has important reference value. Highly Cited Chinese Researchers ranking has always been the core evaluation index of ShanghaiRanking’s Best Chinese universities Ranking.
