In order to promote international academic exchange and enhance students' knowledge and skills, the Asian Demographic Research Institute (ADRI) of Shanghai University hosted the training workshop “Methods in developing sub-national population and human capital models and their applications” October 13-17, 2019. The workshop was led by Professor Samir KC of ADRI and participants included Chinese and international scholars, professors, and students.
Professor KC began the first session by introducing demographic research at ADRI and the fundamental situation of population projection models as they are used in the world today. During the week-long workshop, participants learned methods for population forecasting and fundamentals of statistical software for demographic forecasting and problem solving. After the workshop, Professor Samir KC invited participants to join an ongoing project on population projection models to make contributions to the world population forecasts.
