Introduction:
The role of fathers in parenting and family life often reflects values of intergeneration and gender. What changes in Chinese society's perceptions about the role of fathers do internet buzzwords such as "Widowed Parenting" and "Tiger Mom Cat Dad" reflect? What kind of parenting practice do these changes in concepts translate into? This lecture will rely on psychology and sociology's literature on father's participation to discuss the status quo of father's participation in parenting in Chinese families and the policy measures that may promote father's participation in the families in the future.
